Be a part of Cinco-de-Mayo Half Marathon race

Cinco-de-Mayo is an annual festival, celebrated on May 5th to commemorate the Mexican Army's unlikely win over French forces. Besides celebrating the win, Cinco-de-Mayo also involves a lot of fun-filled activities. People take part in different festivities and events like this Half Marathon race which I am referring to. If you too want to test how good an athlete you are, then get ready to be a part of the 2010 Cinco-de-Mayo Half Marathon race.

In this race the runners will travel through Irvine's beautiful tree-lined running and biking trails and enjoy scenic beauty of parks and lakes in Irvine's surroundings. Those who want to participate in the event but can not run as far as a Half Marathon, can also join another race which has the option of 10K run and 5K run/walk. To arise an interest in kids, it will organize 1K Kids Fun Run also.

Today native Mexicans and Americans everywhere celebrate Cinco de Mayo to commemorate that historic event. Music, dancing and parades bring lots of festivity and fun on this day. Several towns in Mexico elaborately reenact the Battle of Puebla in the form of drama which includes acting and speeches.

Organized by the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF), this wonderful community event will have all the fun for runners. The most inspiring part of this race is that money thus collected will be used in helping fund research which works on finding a cure for pediatric cancer.

The event will be organized on May 2nd, 2010 at the Irvine Spectrum Center. Timings for the same are from 7:00 am to 11:30 am. Since PCRF offers a special pricing through April 15th, 2010 you must get registered as quickly as you can if you want to be a part of this event. If the mission "Reaching for the Cure" is really close to your heart then you must participate in the event, either individually or as a team to raise money.
